Rodeo
RODEO is a three-voice experimental concert blending text, song, and music in a hybrid stage setup. Between an inflamed nervous system, a smoking marsh, an archaeological site, and a volcano, microphones probe the material to unearth specific narratives: Long Covid, childhood under stress, hazy medina, urban revolts, drought, and marshes. Fire and smoke connect body, society, and territory.
RODEO takes the form of a three-voice experimental concert, intertwining text, song, and music in a hybrid stage setup.
The space transforms in turn into an inflamed nervous system, a smoking marsh, an archaeological site, or a volcano.
Microphones probe the material there like measuring instruments, to unearth buried narratives.
These narratives are precise: mental fog of Long Covid, childhood marked by stress, memory of the destroyed “hazy medina”, flames of burnt cars as symptoms of social injustice, drought in the Sonian Forest and Brussels marshes on borrowed time.
Fire and smoke are the central motifs, figures of inflammation and memory.
By bringing these separate stories together without confusing them, RODEO creates a common landscape.
Body, society, and territory resonate together there.
In the smoke, buried narratives are revealed.
