Biographie

Soa Ratsifandrihana est danseuse et chorégraphe franco-malgache. Après des études au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Soa débute en tant qu’interprète dans des créations de James Thierrée (Tabac Rouge) et Salia Sanou (Du désir d’horizons). Elle rejoint ensuite la compagnie Rosas d’Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker.Parmi de nombreuses productions, Soa danse Fase (y compris le solo Violin Phase), que la chorégraphe Anne Teresa transmettait pour la première fois à une nouvelle génération de danseurs. Cette pièce a été consacrée par un article du New York Times l’une des « Best dances of 2019 ». Le nom de Soa Ratsifandrihana y est mis en avant pour la qualité de son interprétation. Récemment, elle rejoint l’équipe de Boris Charmatz pour le projet itinérant 20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle et plus où elle y partage son approche de l’improvisation.

En parallèle de son travail d’interprète, elle cherche à développer son propre travail. Elle collabore en 2016 avec les musiciens Sylvain Darrifourcq et Ronan Courty dans Tendimite, une écriture minimaliste et nerveuse. Dernièrement, elle chorégraphie Folia avec Aure Wachter et la cie HowNow, présentée à la Philharmonie de Cologne en août 2020. Aujourd’hui, installée à Bruxelles, elle s’investit dans la création de son solo intitulé g r oo v e. Soa cherche à faire la synthèse entre une recherche de spontanéité et un travail rigoureux de composition, sur un fond d’histoire qui lui ressemble.[:en]

Soa Ratsifandrihana is a French-Malagasy dancer and choreographer. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Soa started out as a dancer in creations by James Thierrée (Tabac Rouge) and Salia Sanou (Du désir d’horizons). She then joined Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s company Rosas.Among many productions, Soa dances Fase (including the solo Violin Phase), which choreographer Anne Teresa passed on for the first time to a new generation of dancers. This piece was named one of the ‘Best dances of 2019’ by the New York Times. Soa Ratsifandrihana’s name was highlighted for the quality of her interpretation. Recently, she joined Boris Charmatz’s team for the touring project 20 dancers for the 20th century and more, where she shared her approach to improvisation.

Alongside her work as a performer, Soa develops her own work. In 2016, she collaborated with the musicians Sylvain Darrifourcq and Ronan Courtyon the minimalist and nervous writing of Tendimite. Recently, she choreographed Folia with Aure Wachter and the HowNow company, presented at the Cologne Philharmonic in August 2020. Today, she is based in Brussels where she has introduced her solo g r oo v e.

At present, Soa is interested in movement, music and poetry. Through dance, she wants to achieve a synthesis between spontaneity and rigorous composition, against a background of history that resembles her.
